Have you ever just wanted to search for a specific type of file like a PDF or an Excel file but you had to sift through pages of search results? If you have, this is a tip to lighten your work load on your next search. In order to find your files, such as PDF's, you need to know what the correct file extension for that type of file. Some examples of this are: doc(Word), ppt(Powerpoint) or xls(Excel). Just type filetype:pdf after the keyword(s) you want to look for. It's important to note that you should not include the dot before the extension name (.pdf) in your search because the browser will not be able to process your request.
